Project Description

This year I started working with Jewish Family and Children's Services. They offer many different community and social services and serve thousands of people every year. They needed some design help with their summer institute for the California Teachers Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education, created by the JFCS Holocaust Center and hosted by the USC Shoah Foundation. The deadline was a little tight so I immediately jumped in and started working. First I designed the theme, layering text over a field of California poppies with a dark blue sky, a bold update on the poppy theme they had used the previous year. The theme needed to be easily recognizable and work on a variety of pieces with lots of different titles and text. Using the theme, I then created 20 different room door signs and title slides for each workshop session, a large lobby banner, an event info binder, name tags and labels for each participant at the conference. Seeing quotes from participants after the event, it was a powerful and meaningful conference helping California teachers learn how to fight hate.
